My car vibrates significantly when at a stop light. It doesn't do it when accelerating even slightly. It also stops as soon as I shift into N or P. It only happens in D and R. The engine mounts that I could see looked alright and MAF sensor is clean. What's causing this?

please follow the instructions

You can try to search on google~?:)

Replacing the mounts fixed the issue

Many things can do that. A common one is a worn torque converter inside your transmission. When you put it in gear that makes the torque converter strain the engine which will make it shift but that stops when you put it in Parker neutral. If that's the case you can live with it. I've lived with that for years and my Celica because I'm not going to pull the transmission off since it works fine. Otherwise. Other common things are transmission mounts, vacuum leaks, or bad fuel injectors that don't spray right at low speed

Ah ok. Thanks Mr. Kilmer. The car is an old corolla so in the ballpark of your celica. I'll check the mounts again and see if I find anything.

If it's a worn torque converter, I assume that means replacing it and a seriously costly repair? With the age of the vehicle, it might just be better to live with it like you say. Maybe I'll change the ATF and filter, who knows I could get lucky.
