Hi Scotty, I have a 2009 Honda Fit base model with 185k miles. It was my brothers and he bought it new, had all maintenance done at dealer. Runs great. The check engine indicates a cat converter replacement according to the dealership. I purrs. I recently had the ignition coils and plugs replaced. No foul smell or any indication other than the check engine light. I used a bottle of Cataclean brand treatment. Like I said, it runs great with plenty of zip but the light remains on. Will it ruin the car if I keep driving with out replacing the catalytic converter for $2400 at the dealer?

Tell the dealer to take a hike.  Find a good independent mechanic who can diagnose any problems with the cat, 02 sensors or anything else.  The dealer is a money making, lying machine.

Could be the cat, could be another issue but you're fine without a cat unless you have emissions in your state....however if it's plugged it can create problems.

That price is typically dealer shotgun pricing, universal or direct fit average $100 for your vehicle.
