Hello, I have a 2005 Toyota Camry with the V6 engine and I have a code for p0420 and it only seems to trigger when I drive it in the city. I tried some cleaner like cataclean and put top-tier gas like shell and it still doesn't go away. For some reasons it doesn't trigger p0430. I'm trying to get this stupid code go away because when it's on, it turns off the traction control and the stability control. I drive it everyday in the city and highway. Is there anything I can try before I dump money on getting another catalytic converter? Im thinking about replacing the upstream O2, on the scan tool it seems to be working slower than usual but I don't have any o2 sensor code at all. What do you think I should do?
Total Fuel trim is around +8 to +12
Miles: 208,687

that means the computer is trying to dump more fuel in, which can wear out the converter over time if the fuel goes unburned.

I didn't see your data, but it wouldn't be unusual for it to be worn out after 200k.
How does your exhaust system look? Is it getting pretty rusty?
We advise replacing parts only if they test as being bad. (Guessing and loading the parts cannon rarely if ever produces a good result.) See the possible causes of and troubleshooting information for that code in the links below:

It does appear you are running a bit lean if your long-term fuel trim is +8 to +12, though it's not too horrible for a 20-year-old high mileage car. You might want to check for vacuum leaks.
