I am the second owner of a 2015 nissan versa sv 4dr sedan with 170,000miles. As far as I know the cvt fluid has not been changed. Do I change it or let it go with this many miles? Can a poor battery cause it to throw a code for thr gear range sensor?

Change it and say a little prayer. It is already beyond the expected lifespan for one of those things.
A bad battery can cause all kinds of electrical problems.
