Scotty,

BIG FAN! Thank you for always telling it like it is and NEVER bowing down to greed.

Question:

What is the cheapest manual transmission car to repair? If I want to buy a cheap semi used car as a first car to teach him on. I’d like to know some hidden costs.

Thank you,

Nutzoids

Probably a Fit or Yaris.

Id say a Ford Fusion, there’s not a lot of them but I had a 2006 year one to learn on and it had 243k miles and still ran good and was very reliable for me and I didn’t put any money into it besides brakes

Civics are good, will run forever. But honestly, an American non turbo 4 banger can be good too (definitely cheaper), usually its the automatics in those that suck.

Late E150 generation Corolla with a 1.6/1.8 (depending on region), those were bulletproof.

A previous generation Yaris / outgoing Mazda2 are also good options - but they’re small.

They’re cheap to repair because usually nothing brakes, unlike some other cars where each repair is cheap but there’s plenty of them.
