P1174

Hello, I hope someone can help me on this. I own 2009 Chevy Malibu 3.6L V6. This past month or so I’ve been hearing a ticking sound come from the engine. I recently changed the oil myself hoping the sound would go away, but it hasn’t. This past week the “check engine light” lit up and I scanned the car. The code it gave me was P1174. My scan tool did not gave me a description of the code. So I looked it up online. Websites and other people were stating that its a clogged MAF sensor, a bad O2 sensor, a leak in the intake or head gasket, or a clogged fuel injector. Last night I cleaned the MAF sensor and nothing has happened. Can someone who came across this code help me out. Please and thank you.

If your engine is ticking, that usually means the lifters are going bad and you'll need to replace the engine entirely.

Have you checked the other items that can trigger P1174?
