I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 with a v6 engine. My check engine light is on and it is giving me the code po442 for a small evap leak. It is not the gas cap. Can I just live with this and ignore actually fixing whatever it is, because nothing is affecting engine performance and part of me just wants to ignore it.
Clarification: what is the mileage and are you in a state that requires smog check (and passing OBDII monitors)?
160000 miles, and I live in arkansas so I do not have to pass any kind of emissions test or anything
If your state won’t fail you for emissions testing because of it then yea you can live with it. If you don’t have emissions testing but a safety inspection just ask an inspector at an inspection place if it has to be fixed or not. If you have neither, just ignore it.
