Hey Scotty! I have a 1998 s10 2.2 liter engine with a four speed automatic. The check engine light came on for a p1870 trans component slipping. It rides smooth and doesn’t feel sluggish. It only shifts a little rough from 1st to 2nd
I don't think additive will help.
Just live with the minor inconvenience. The transmission can still run like that for many years.

You should let a little transmission fluid out and add a quart of Lucas Transmission treatment. If you check your fluid level and its low on the stick just add the treatment and don’t worry about letting any out. If you are full on the stick and have no way to drain a quart out you will have to get a mechanic to do it for you.
