I have a 1968 Chevy Silverado truck with the 4.8 l engine. The engine oil and filter change require 6 quarts of oil. When I check the oil level later it is above the upper hole on the dipstick by the same distance as between the holes on the stick. Is this normal or do I have the wrong dipstick?

The chart shows the 1969 4.8L at 6 qts. The 9167-1981 4.1L is 5 qts. There is no listing shown for a 1968 4.8L engine. Apparently your engine is a 5 qt. engine.
