Scotty, I have a 2015 Toyota Sienna SE with ~80K miles on it.  Over the last couple of week the "Check Engine" light has come on along with the "TRACK OFF" indicator.  I took it to the mechanic and he scanned it and came up with The error code P0340 Cam position.  He couldn't work on it right away and set an appointment for the following week.  Three days later the light went off.  So I cancelled the appointment.  4 days after that the light came back on!!!  So I took it back to him and he got the same error code P0340 and we set another appointment for the following week.  3 days later the code went off AGAIN!  I called and discussed it with him and he said there was nothing he could do with it if the error isn't there and suggested that we keep the appointment open "JUST IN CASE".  Well guess what today the check engine light came back on!  What the heck is going on?  Can I drive this van or will I cause big damage?  It starts in a second and runs fine.  It has pickup just like it used to and idles just like it used to.  What do you think?

As long as it runs okay it's not hurting anything but often if they come and go those codes often mean that the timing chain is starting to wear and it gives a cam cold cuz the cam gives bad data to the computer because the chain is no longer aligning at all correctly

Thanks Scotty. Timing chain! Sounds expensive. Engine tear down? This is a Toyota - NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. My kinda luck I guess. Thanks again for blowing the fog away. {black}:excitement:

what scotty said. sounds like someone didn't change the oil on time. on time oil change is absolutely mandatory on timing chain motors.

Not this van. NOPE! Maintenance is top priority and religiously followed. 😎
