So i have a 2019 honda civic 2.0 liter cvt with 18,000 miles. The first 9,000 miles i drove highway miles then the remaining 9,000 miles i drove in town because i moved and live 2 minutes from my work. I have a battery tester and i tested the battery in the mourning before starting the car for the first time and it read that the voltage was 12.3 volts. It said the battery was good-recharge. I have one of those topdon battery testers that scotty recommends. Is that a normal voltage for driving short distances daily? And is a topdon battery tester considered a load tester or do i have to go to autozone to have my battery accurately tested? All the other tests i carried out cane up normal like the cranking test and charging test.
shorts trips may be insufficient time to replenish the energy used to start the engine. Consider taking the long way home occasionally so it can recharge, or put a solar panel charger on the dashboard.
the tester does not 'load' the battery, but tests capacitance and gives you a CCA rating which is effectively an indication of resistance.
