Hello Scotty,
I have a 2008 Toyota RAV4 V6 with 145,000 miles, it drives fine but when I’m on a rough road I hear clunking noise coming from the right from axle, also if I’m climbing let’s say a pavement or curb I here a clunk sound from the right axle.
I have new struts, I have checked the sway bar link, strut mount, tie roads and all other components. But I noticed that the cv axle has some clearance when I push and pull, I can here the sound like metal hitting on metal, I compared with my brothers 2016 rav4 which didn’t have the clearance mine had.
Also my rav4 does not click as I turn, and the previous owner had 2 minor accidents on that side.
Do you recommend I change the shaft or look else where
Thank you, Big fan of your work.
Worn sway bar links will clank, and worn rubber bushings will make more of a clunk sound.
Pull on them without jacking up the car.
ah yes the nuances between clinks, clanks, and clunks 😆
I would never make it as a mechanic. Can't imagine the descriptions people offer.
people say things like "it just started make noise yesterday" when the brake rotor is hanging on by a thread
I tried that, all the bushing seems fine
