My car recently pulled this code and the dealership says it will cost 2.5k to fix. Is this fair? Or is there a cheap way to fix it myself?

My car recently pulled this code and the dealership says it will cost 2.5k to fix. Is this fair? Or is there a cheap way to fix it myself?

That depends what is actually causing the code. (Of course the code points out a condition rather than a specific part.) What kind of diagnostic steps did the dealer take to determine the cause, and what did they say the problem is?

Here's some troubleshooting information if you'd like to so some of your own checking:

Also be aware that the dealer is the most expensive option and necessarily the most competent or thorough at diagnosing problems. You'd be better off finding a good independent mechanic for any non-warranty work. (Avoid chain shops such as Pep Boys, Firestone, and Midas as well.)
