I have a 2014 Honda CRV with 177k miles automatic tranny that I just bought. Learned pretty quick I have a cold start rattle then it runs fine. Limited research says this is likely the VTC actuator which is notorious on these cars. My question is should I get this fixed? I’d rather fix now than risk major failure.
Thanks!
If the actuator can be repaired without tearing the whole engine down and it doesn't cost too much, go ahead and fix it. But if you got to tear the engine down it's going to cost you a ton of money. If it only rattles on startup. Many people live with that for years
