I have a 2007 Honda Oddessy which the auto transmission is on it's last leg. A complete transmission rebuilt would cost $2,400. Is this car worth spending this much money on? Thoughts. The other option would be to replace it with a $5-6,000 used car.

Spend that much on an Odyssey that's old enough to vote? I seriously doubt it. Also a large percentage of transmission rebuilds (versus installing a factory remanufactured unit) don't turn out well.
If you're considering rebuilding your transmission, purchase a factory remanufactured transmission with a good warranty and pay a mechanic to put it in. Don't rebuild it. I know from experience.
Most transmission rebuilders only warranty their work for 12 months or 12,000 miles. It's not worth the what you paid to have it rebuilt. I had to rebuild my old Ranger's transmission shortly after I bought it, and the shop screwed it up three times on a 4-speed automatic. It still didn't shift quite right sometimes. Every once in a while when I'd take my foot off the gas, when it came time to shift from 2 to 1, it seemed a little abrupt. I'd hear it shift when it did that, and it never did it before I had the tranny rebuilt.
I didn't have any issues again for 50,000 miles. My Ranger's rear frame cracked.
My mom drives an 04 Oddessy. We've gone through 2 transmissions. Our third one is showing some signs of wearing out but it still shifts fine.
You can either rebuild it (very expensive) or replace with a used one.
