I currently own a 2020 Subaru Impreza with eyesight. I just learned about the new product comma.ai and that is compatible with my car and extremely easy to install. The question is, costing around $1000 plus the $200 extra for the harness cable is it really worth it? I do love the idea of auto pilot from Tesla but how much would that compare on the system in my car? I have seen some YouTube review, testing out the products while driving many miles and I still notice that the person has to grab the steering wheel once in a while to do adjustment, staying in the lane and making turns. Sounds just about what I’m doing now when my car is on the highway at cruise control. Obviously I cannot perform stop and go in traffic with my current car. Not sure if the comma.AI has that feature.
Stick to using cruise control & your hands. I personally am not comfortable handing over control of a car to a computer. The technology hasn’t matured yet.
Do you want to be a guinea pig of the manufacturer? What if it compromises your control of the vehicle & you end up injured, or worse?
Its your car & your money, but I’d be real leery about add on kits like the one you mentioned.
