Hello Scotty
Big Fan I just Purchased A 2005 Toyota Matrix with 122k miles on it from and elderly Person for 4700 for my wife, But it looks like NO maintenance was done. i replaced the Spark plugs And Valve cover Head gasket Do to it leaking i did notice there was oil in the spark plug holes witch I cleaned, also replaced both O2 sensors Do to a P0037 code for the Sensor 1 bank 2 code and it cleared. Now i have a P0741 torque converter code also a P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402 and P2419 code. it also is requesting a transmission filter and gasket replacement. i have looked into it and it might be the charcoal canister to clear the EVAP codes and replace the Torque converter but i am questionable about replacing the transmission fluid to to the filter and Gasquet needing to be replaced like You say " if it works leave it alone". the transmission fluid is very dirty and black and shifts good don't want any issues with the transmission please advise what should I do.
Well anyway you look at it? You're taking a chance if you change fluid. That's black with that many miles on it. But truthfully, generally Toyota's don't have problems if you change the fluid and filter on them. They're not like American cars. As far as mission codes. Yeah it could be the charcoal canister but they're not that cheap. I'd advise paying a guy like me to test it out cuz it's by directional scanner first to see what's going on. But if they don't do emissions testing where you are, you can just leave it alone if it runs fine
