Coolant and P0302 code on 2004 Highlander

Hi Scotty,

I live in Queens NYC and have a 2004 Toyota Highlander 4WD V6 with 180k miles on it. I have recently seen a leak coming from the passenger side below the engine after the cold snowy winter days. Bright yellow fluid on the snow. After a bit of driving it tripped a P0302 (cyclinder 2 misfiring code) and check engine light is on. No overheating. Brought it to my trusted mechanic, he did a pressure test and couldn't find the leak. He does more testing now. Coolant is empty and he told me it might have gone into the engine. Timing belt / waterpump / thermostat / coolant changed 5 years ago, 30k miles ago at 150k miles. I have never changed the spark plugs or coils. Synthetic oil change and oil filter every year after 3-5k miles. Gasket was redone last year (no blown headgasket, but new gasket was installed because engine was a bit leaking)

Do you think the coolant leak and the P0302 code are related? How would you solve this issue?

Thanks in advance for your precious help

Stan

Dye can be added to the coolant to help find leaks with a pressure test. The coolant is going somewhere, it's either leaking or burning. No other choices.

Given the age of the vehicle it would be no surprise if a core plug is leaking due to corrosion.
