Coolant Bubbling Over

I have a 2002 Saturn SL2 with 237,000 miles on it. I had the radiator replaced at a shop a few weeks ago because it had a crack in one of the plastic end tanks. I check all the fluids weekly to make sure everything is OK, and when I opened the coolant cap about 5 seconds later it started Bubbling over. About a Dixie cup full of coolant bubbled out. Car is not overheating, and it's not mixing with the oil or anything. Is this anything to worry about? It's never done this before when I check the antifreeze.

Did you open it while it was hot? If so, there is supposed to be pressure inside. Be careful.

Not sure. Would that cause it to do that? Not overheating and temperature gauge is where it always is.

Sounds like a stuck top thermostat  or vacuum in the line somewhere. Those engines have aluminum blocks, so make sure it does not get too hot. I would not open the radiator cap with the engine even near being hot. I'd have to see it.

Sounds like the shop that put the radiator in did not properly burp the system.. You did say "bubble over" which indicates air in the system.
