Hello Scotty & Killer Team,
I got a 2022 Corolla Cross back in Feb 2022 so just over 2 years old. I am starting to notice some yellow/rust looking spots on the paint in different areas around the car, sides and back. A few details:
-- In Massachusetts but winter has been mild past few years and I get touchless washes every 1-2 months.
-- Paint is the Blizzard Pearl White option which is an upgrade; maybe a factor of that?
-- No rust underneath at all (I got Krown Oil Treatment done past two years to help that long term)
-- Photo attached at this link to display one of the patches of the spots; link here
What is your view and diagnosis of this? Should I be worried this is a defect that will continue to spread?
What solutions do you recommend to address this? Idea was to drive this car until the flying cars are mainstream.
Thank you in advance for your guidance!
Chris
Should I be worried this is a defect that will continue to spread?
Yes, you should be concerned. Toyota has had problems with its Blizzard Pearl White paint on several models. Your picture shows rust on the paint (at least) and when not addressed rust issues get worse. The vehicle is under warranty so take it to the dealer.
Okay, I think you might be right I will take this to them and hopefully they own it. Thank you for the reply never thought this could be possible.
make sure it isn't just metal debris kicked up on the road, landing on your car, and then rusting there. The photo doesn't give enough detail.
Okay, I will do. Thanks for tip. Will try to get a better shot sorry about that.
I agree with @hixster but I will ask another question.
Is this possibly caused by rocks or debris hitting the car? If a rock whacks a spot down to the metal, it will quickly start to rust. I fear that may not be the case, but like to be optimistic when possible.
As Hixter said, blizzard white has had a lot of issues, my GX470 the paint just fell off, but I had it painted with a normal Olympic White so I could touch it up easier.
If it is the standard failure, the paint will start peeling right off from the metal.
Possible but its in enough spots around car that it would seem odd to be rocks hitting car but will rule that out. Thank you for speedy replies.
