have a 2020 Corolla hatchback cvt. My question is does cvt have a clutch if it does how does it work.

Not ALL CVT's are alike insofar as reliability. The Toyota line of CVT is very realiable and dependable. I have two Prius, 09 and a 04 which never required any service just checking of fluids. Miles on each are 120K AND 215k. Other makes and models have not been so fortunate in their transmissions if you do your research.
