Scotty, My Dad is thinking about getting a new car, he's been leaning more towards a Nissan, I know your thoughts on the car, I did my research and I had some friends who had problems with it, and turns out they are actually not that well made, How do I get my Dad to not get a Nissan?
First of all, realize it's his car and he needs to get whatever satisfies him. Don't try convince people or change their mind (unless you're interviewing for a job). Imagine your favorite ice cream is chocolate, but someone says the chocolate is bad and talks you into getting vanilla instead. What if you end up hating the ice cream? You'll wish you had gotten what you wanted instead, and resenting the person who convinced you otherwise. Don't be that guy. It's really expensive ice cream in this case.
You should take the approach of helping him make a more informed decision. Explain what you discovered and show your evidence. But let people come to their own conclusions. Then you made your contribution, but the decision will be his. Ultimately he is the one paying for it.
Which Nissan model? How old is he? How much driving will he do in the car per year?
