Hi Scotty. My mother in law has a 1997 Daewoo and wants to give it to me for free and only has 58,000 miles. It runs and has a manual transmission. Is it a good buy? I know the company went bankrupt in 1999 and no longer exists. Your thoughts?

$0 is a pretty good buy, yeah.
Just take care of it as best you can, to make it last, and hopefully you get some good use out of it before it goes to the crusher. I wouldn't spend much money on it though. Better save up for something better.
I would not buy one but for free just run it until something expensive goes wrong with it or it needs parts that are unavailable. (Rockauto doesn't even show 1997 Daewoo, which does not bode well for parts availability considering they list some parts for cars like 1961 Amphicar and 1947 Crosley.)
