question / testimonial
i live in the country in wisconsin. i just 'installed' 2 deer whistles in my grill. i've seen 4 deer since then. only one of them crossed in front of me. the other 3 it seemed like i noticed them faster, like they heard me coming, more movement, then they wanted to move away from the sound. one racoon heard me coming and i probly only noticed him cuz he was trying to get away from the noise. if anyone has anything to say about deer whistles, i'd like to hear it.
Deer can hear the whistles. Either they don't care, or your car will hit them before they can decide.
Sounds like they’d make horrible pedestrians..
@inthrustwetrust
at least deer don't stare at their phones while walking down the middle of the road
True.. and get mad at drivers for honking at them.
“... horrible pedestrians.” LOL!
Great stuff, Joe.
Studies seem to say no - see below - but if you've already purchased them, go ahead and mount them.
In my experience, the key thing is to hit your brakes so that your headlights are not in their eyes - deer freeze when they have a strong light in their eyes, which is why it's illegal to hunt with spotlights in many places.

My grand daughter in Minnesota put deer whistles on her new car. Two days later, she hit a deer. Three weeks after that, she hit another deer. Good luck!.
What happened 4 months after that?
She tries not to drive at night, anymore.
Buggah!
I've known a few guys who lived out in the country that put them on their trucks.
Honestly, it didn't seem to do much. I think @MountainManJoe is right....they hear the noise, but as they try to figure out what it is or where it is coming from....boom. Too late.
I also agree with Joe on pedestrians on their phones. It is terrible. People definitely have an addiction that they need to break.
No.
The Pennsylvania State Police did a test a few years ago - they put deer whistles on all their cars to see if deer collisions were reduced. There was no change.
FWIW the couple times I encountered a deer in my path, hitting my brakes hard dropped the glare of my headlights out of their eyes, and then scampered off. Deer freeze because of the lights. I've always recommended DO NOT SWERVE as that will most likely result in a worse crash (unless you're on a bike!)
it really seems like i notice them earlier. after that, it's all about if I can use the intel right
just scoop them up safely and take them home for the BBQ

Get a bullbar and a few salvage permits
I guess, if you like your meat pre tenderized
Hi! 3 weeks ago my 2017 Ford Fiesta got totaled I hit a deer. I bought a 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT sport and purchased some deer whistles. This is my first time using them. Do they work? Are they worth using?
please try the search before posting. Thanks.
