2010 honda accord ex 4cyl automatic
Bought car used 60k miles. did first drain n fill december 2020, did second in february. honda oem fluids. then car shifty poorly bad mpg
then today i trained and filed again and when it came out mech told me to look and fluid looks pretty dirty and and magnet had metal shavings on it.
fluid was previously overfilled by a bit not too much
now 3rd time runs better shifts better hold gears longer feels smoother
my concern is why did the fluid come out looking dirty? im thinking of doing another trans drain n fill at next oil change in 5k miles, is this a good idea?
heres a pic of dipstick wheres level is at i think it need a bit more. (was check on flat service while car got to operating temperature in drive with foot on brake)

you think it needs another quarter of quart or half quart?
thanks again
Usually ATF is checked in Park not Drive. Double check your manual on that.
The fluid level needs to be between those two lines on your dipstick.
At 60k, the fluid will be dirty. Especially if the tranny was abused. If it was really bad, it takes a few drain+fills to get all the particulates out. Did you change the tranny filter?
