[Solved] Diesel fuel consumption.

Hi Scotty,

I've had a 2009 Renault Koleos 2 litre turbo diesel 4X4 for about 5 years. In the first 4 years the average fuel usage was always around 8 Litres per 100km, 29.4 miles/gallon.. In the last year fuel consumption has risen to 10-11 litres/ 100km, 22.4 miles/gallon.

The vehicle never burns oil, I believe the engine is in great shape, it has 220,000km, 136,000 miles on it, and i service it regularly and use the recommended synthetic oil grade. I change the fuel and air filter once per year also. It's a very well maintained vehicle all round.. Also I'm driving it really soft, when I was young I was into fast cars and bikes, but now I'm driving to conserve fuel and save money... So I never drive it hard..

Just wondering if you have any advice about what could be wrong? Maybe something electronic, a sensor or something...

Regards,

Matt.

8L/100km? Koleoses seem to be diesel hogs.

How did you notice the difference? Does computer show it? Do you need to refuel more often? Do you often drive short distances? Have you checked tire pressure?

Nonsense. Why? Do you live in dusty area? What is the diesel quality in your country? Do you use the one with added alcohol?
