Disabling Honda ECO

I have a 2015 Honda Odyssey with 60k miles. I’ve heard that Honda’s ECO mode can cause various problems, like oil burning. Should I put in one of those ECO-bypass microcontrollers as a preventive measure?

I'm not super familiar with that but Idk about installing any micro controllers... sounds to me like a bad idea because if someone installs it wrong or worse that thing messes up your ECM or TCM or anything else you're in BIG trouble... but you've looked into this and this is the first I've heard on it and I'll definitely check into this more when I get a sec. I know what you can do. Call someone OTHER than a dealership thats a honda MASTER mechanic and ask them. If ANYONE knows they will know. Either way you only have 60k miles on a 2015 your doing pretty freaking good as far as I'm concerned. Most all hondas will run to 300k miles if taken care of without doing anything special to them. This might be the exception but CHECK with the master honda mechanic before installing ANY mircowhatever

Yes save your van and wallet by disabling it ASAP with a device called VCMuzzler, search it up. No side effects.

Thanks guys for the input! Leaning toward doing it -- my only concern is that the device keeps ECO off by nudging the coolant temperature lower than actual from the sensor. I really have to trust that the microcontroller is well-designed and will bypass itself if the coolant is getting too hot and won't fail itself. I'll see if I can find a local Honda independent master mechanic for another opinion as well.

@rcchris
There are other options where the disabler will show the actual coolant temp say if it senses overheating. I ran the VCMuzzler on multiple cars with zero issues.
There is some dealerships believe it or not suggesting to install the VCMuzzler, one even sells them lol

Regarding the VCMuzzler: … since you install it in line with ECT1 [ engine coolant temperature sensor one], … your vehicle’s cooling system is unaffected. The cooling fans operate as usual as they are turned on and off by ECT2. Hence, the actual operating temperature of your vehicle is unchanged.
