HI, I am wondering if radiator necks go bad I have an old camry and I shut the engine off and see a tiny bit of Steam coming out of radiator neck right by the cap replaced it with a very high quality(Rad cap) but still see a tiny bit of steam. I loose a tiny bit of coolant 25 minute drive and Maybe a 1-2 oz low do you think the neck could be a little bit warped or something and would there be ways to reinforce it or just replace the whole radiator for 100 bucks. Thanks
Plastic radiator tanks and necks go bad all the time when they get old. There's no good way to fix them when this happens, you need to replace the radiator.
Thank you so much I was wonder why I was loosing so little coolant that makes me feel better because i have the 2003 toyota camry 2.4 2-Az-Fe that has a problem with the head gasket bolts stripping but I think I would loose a lot more than 1-2 oz
Just replace the radiator. The plastic neck gets brittle and eventually cracks from constant heating and cooling cycles, not to mention ambient temperature swings over years and years. There's no real way to fix the crack. It will just crank somewhere else down the line, if not in the same place again.
