I have bought used dodge caravan 2013 with 174000 KM , used it for 2000 km or so , i dont find any issues, did a scan with bluedriver OBD tool, my question is should i do transmission fluid change as a preventive maintenance or leave it as is, I do not have any issue with transmission and i drive conservatively. I do not want to get into trouble by touching the transmission unnecessarily . Looking for your expert opinion.
Under normal conditions, it should be changed every 120,000 miles or every 193121.28km. If you subject your Grand Caravan to high-mileage service or extreme conditions, your Dodge Caravan's Owner's Manual suggests changing the Automatic Transmission Fluid every 60,000 miles or every 96560.64km.
what does the fluid look like now?
Not sure, im not that technical to open the lid. i did check engine oil after 4000 km or replacement. levels look good, and oil is in good shape. Not sure how the tranmission oil looks like
no need to be a "technician" if it has a transmission has a dipstick. Just pull out the dipstick and dab it on white paper.
also your question is answered in our "Frequently Asked Questions" on the main page.
there is no dipstick for this model
I don't know the history of your vehicle nor do I have physical access to the patient, so it would be in accurate and irresponsible of me to tell you to change the fluid or not.
In your place I would have a transmission expert inspect it (drop the pan, run diagnostics, read out the transmission shift adapts etc.)
Caravans aren't known for strong automatic transmissions.
