Hey Scotty, i have a 2004 Honda Civic, 1.6 L with 40,000 KM on the odo, it is 18 yrs old this year in July.
I wanted to ask whether I should change my timing belt as it hasnt ever been changed.
The service schedule recommends changing it after about 7 years, and in your video you also recommended to change it on interference engines.
So, taking into consideration the very low mileage (40,000 Kilometres) should I change the belt or no.
Thanks
Yes. The rubber belt deteriorates with age as well as mileage.
Better replace that belt ASAP. It's been on borrowed time for quite a while now and that's an interference engine. (If the belt breaks then it's goodbye engine.)
Considering the belt's 18 years old, yes best you change it.
You've been very lucky, why push it?
