good morning

im looking to get a new Toyota possibly a rav 4 or similar  since they are really reliable .  since you are always updated with info in real time , was wondering if you heard about these new lot fee charges and can shed some light on this.   i live in the Chicagoland area and was looking at a new Toyota.  i called several places and from my understanding, the dealers are saying if you buy  a new Toyota to build online or off the lot there is additional fees around 2-3k depending on dealer . i know you are already paying the shipping and handling fees from Toyota  that is built into the price, but additional fees on top of the taxes seems unfair. i  do understand dealers need to make some money off the cars .  IS THIS GOING ON ANYWHERE ELSE or is this just these dealers.

do you have info or tips on buying a new Toyota.  can dealers mark up msrp or is these lot fees their way to make profit.

the dealers said it only applies to new cars not used but around here the new cars are only a little more then used ones with miles .

what other reliable make  do you recommend for either a rav 4 or a Camry style .

thanks in advance

That's why they are called "stealerships". If all the dealers in your area are doing it you may need to shop some out of your area. If you can save a few thousand dollars it could be worth the trip.

You're asking about 2 completely different types of vehicles, a SUV and Sedan.

The Camry sedan is a fine car. It's comfortable, reliable and gets great gas mileage. A new Camry bought with a normally aspirated 2.5L engine AND an 8 speed automatic transmission would be an excellent choice.

With the RAV4, you also can get the same drive terrain; a 2.5L normally aspirated engine with the 8 speed automatic transmission. I'm not aware of any other 'reliable manufacturers' offering such a reliable drive terrain.

I personally do not like these new small turbo engines or the CVT transmissions.

Either of the vehicles you've mentioned would be a fine choice.

Hope others here can provide you options
