1990 celica again, and when I open the driver door it makes a loud quick almost electronical crack noise and it has the sound like the lock goes off and on but it doesn’t actually lock. Sometimes it happens twice when driver and passenger door is opened. Cause? The car also may seem to have some electrical problems because I am having a issue with the speakers and one time I went to start the car after turning it off and it didn’t start, just stayed in on position with lights on dash no clicking or cranking, and battery was 100% new. Waited 3 mins then started up like nothing happened in warm weather. ALSO sometimes when driving the airbag light will just suddenly come on then go off. Happened on numerous occasions with passenger in car.
Just a wild guess, but maybe after 34 years of opening and closing the wiring going into the door has deteriorated.
Chance but the car was untouched for years in a garage well preserved by first and 2nd owner. But what about the random airbag light and not cranking or even having a ignition click sometimes?
A lot of electrical problems can develop over the decades. Wiring and insulation degrade. Corrosion creeps into connectors and grounds. Trace out the circuits to find the faults.
