Drove On Tires Past Max PSI

Hi Scotty,

Love your youtube shows! You Rock!

I recently bought a new RAV4 LE 2WD because of your advice.  I didn't check the tire pressure after taking possession of the car from the dealer.  They set the PSI at 50 for all 4 tires.  I drove it this way for 50 miles.  Did I do any lasting damage to the tires?  They are Firestone Destination LE2.

thanks,

Vitoon

Not if you drove only 50 miles. Just set the correct cold tyre pressure first thing, tomorrow morning & you should be good to go.

Obviously, the person who did the pre-delivery inspection, didn’t do it.

Thanks! I set all 4 wheels to 35 PSI as indicated on the door. I am worried that max PSI was 44 PSI.

50 miles shouldn’t have hurt anything.

No, you're fine...but look inside the driver door. Should be a sticker that tells you what the tire pressures should be cold and adjust accordingly after they have had several hours to cool off.

Thanks!

Nah you are ok. Just another dealership overlook.

As long as you have corrected the issue, you won't have any problems.
