I just watched this video on You Tube. NEVER USE 32 PSI Tire Pressure (DESTROYING YOUR TIRES FAST)
Is it really ok to overinflate as this video suggests? What are your thoughts?
That video has some fact and a lot of crap. If you have the original type and size tire on your car, run the recommended cold air pressures for front and back as listed on the door jam. What are your thoughts?
When a clickbaity auto Youtube channel is hosted by Joe Rogan you just KNOW it's going to be good! 🤣
Is it really ok to overinflate as this video suggests?
No, it's not okay to overinflate your tires, or the mechanical engineers would have designed the car that way from the start. Overinflating tires causes the center of the tread to bulge outwards and reduce the size of the tire's contact patch. This is dangerous. It will eventually create a bald patch in the center of the tread. Unless you like hydroplaning when it rains, I would advise against this practice.
Likewise, underinflating tires causes extra rolling resistance and the entirety of the tread wears out faster. The correct way is to inflate the tires so that tire tread wears evenly, and the engineers determined that for you ahead of time if you're running a variation of the standard wheels and tires that the vehicle originally came with. If you're using aftermarket wheels and tires, this may not be relevant anymore.
