I just became aware this thing was in existence and I have fallen head over heels. I love it. I want one.
What do you think of these and why did they stop making them??

Essentially GM was testing the market to see if there was an interest in a performance truck at a premium cost to what their other trims were at. Unfortunately there wasn't enough interest to keep it going.
That was long before the days of the Jeep GC Trackhawk and Porsche Cayenne and other modern high performance SUVs. When the Typhoon (and Syclone truck version) came out, SUVs and pickups were considered as work vehicles by most people; people were just starting to get used to the idea of a mid-size SUV as a daily driver. And if someone wanted to go fast, they'd look at coupes and convertibles. So the Typhoon definitely generated a lot of curiosity at the time, but not a lot of sales.
I would be careful getting one these days. The basic platform (S-10/S-15) is not bad but not as robust as the square-body half-tons. Many of them were abused (or modified badly), many others rusted out. They are EXTREMELY rare right now and you can expect to pay big money if you find one in good shape. (As I write this, Hemmings has 2 listed: one for $32K and one for $80K).
If you are interested, I would try to find one at a show and go see it in person. Talk to the owner. Then if you are still interested, start watching for auctions and high-quality listings.

I'm not sure. The 91-93 Chevy C1500 SS's, and the 93-95 Ford F-150 lightnings were also around during that time.
My guess is they were really just marketing/advertising trends for the brands.

Makes sense. I was only about 11 when these came out and if I remember correctly, SUV's was not really even a thing. I gotta say though, I thought that trim was great. Looks good inside and out. And sure beats the crap out of a lot of modern vehicles coming out with crappy plastic interiors and engine bay components. really too bad the interest of buyers wasn't there. That would've been an awesome platform in the coming years of SUVs and giant trucks and dumb electric cars.
The few that I have seen online are usually starting around 22K and going up from there. I would like to see one or even own on some day, but when the time is right. Badass vehicles!
