Help. Its 1.5 months now. 2 car mechanic shops. No fix.
Week 1 through week 6.
Engine light on. Code reads 1&4 misfire and evap circuit. Changed spark plugs and wires.
Code reads engine 4 misfire and evap circuit. Switch ignition coils to see if ignition coil. Car no start. Dead car. Switch back. Same thing. Buy new ignition coil. Same thing.
Car towed to 1st shop. New R&R balance shaft/timing belt and R&R crankshaft sensor. No start. Dead car.
3 weeks sitting in shop lot. We tow car to 2nd shop.
New altenator, New iridium spark plugs, new crank shaft sensor, New ignition misfire sensor.
Car cranks and fires. Car Shaking, Misfiring 1&4, Check engine light on, oil light blinking, burning ignition coils, Loss of power, smell of gas, stalling.
Worse with air cond. on.
Any help would be appreciated.
Mileage? It would be probably good idea to do a compression test to verify the engine is OK internally.
Have you considered new fuel injectors and fixing the EVAP system? You might also want to replace your EGR valve. It's 20 years old and probably carboned up to the max.
