2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8l wh/ 185K, Recently changed a rusted, leaking tank and rusted leaking filler neck. First 4 tanks of fuel it ran perfectly. The last 3 tanks the car bucks like it's fuel starved ( but, only when you first fill it up). After 70 miles or so it runs fine for the rest of the tank. There is no filter. It has a screen or something in the pump housing inside the tank (or so it seems). It seems on this 3rd tank, that is is getting worse,... maybe. Thoughts?
You can check the fuel pressure or more easily look at the fuel trims to see if the computer is trying to add fuel to the mixture
Thanks Jack. I did as you said and they weren't bad while running at idle. I happened to climb under the car and the pump was whining with a really loud high pitch, much louder and higher than my other car. I changed the whole pump assembly and so far it seems fine. There was quite a bit of stuff on the sock in the old one. I'm not sure if it could block so much gas as to cause the loud whine or if the pump was just bad.
