I own a 05 v10 Excursion and it worked fine till I either turned off the heat or turned into the parking lot. (I did both around the same time) Then it made a really loud noise, not an exhaust sound, but a loud droning noise like the sound heard near electrical substations. Then I revved it and the noise stayed the same throughout the rev range. In volume and pitch. I then shut it off and turned it back on but it would not start.
I'm not sure if the noise came out of the engine or the back, but it was super loud. It didn't change with engine speed so Im not sure what it is.
Ford v10, 184k miles.
It doesn't have the check engine light on when I checked it.
