Hi Scotty,
Recently I did the oil change of my 2013 Impala at Valvoline. I always so the maintenance on time and do regular oil changes every 3-4 months. The car runs greats and I don't have any issue with car what so ever. It has only 70K miles on it. In my last oil change, which was last week, they told me to flush the engine oil. The showed me the interior side of engine oil cap which was a little yellow. They told me that since it's yellow, there might be some build up in the car. They also told me to do the transmission flush because the car has 70K miles. Based on what they told me, do yo think it's a good idea to do the engine and transmission flush? Thank you so much in advance!
Never flush a transmission. Exactly what is their plan how to flush the engine? I would be concerned using one of those oil shops.
Thanks, That's helpful.
Change your PCV valve. Does it look a tad like milk? You may be getting a little moisture in the engine oil if it's cold where you are and you don't drive long enough to burn it off with engine heat. This is normal in the cold, on short trips. I had this happen with my truck after a shop did my valve cover gaskets and figured out they didn't put the valve back in. Have the fluid in the transmission changed (drain and fill only, do not flush it) and replace the filter.
Thank you so much. I'll keep your comments in mind.
What they are telling you is total BS.
You are right. A lot of guys have told me the same. Thanks!

Never go to quick lube places. They are slick shysters and incompetent fools who didn't have the skills to become real honest mechanics.

That's too much. 5,000 mi or every year is fine.

That's how they earn commission. It's called an "upsell".

This is caused by moisture condensing in the oil. It's not uncommon, but it's usually a sign the engine isn't getting driven enough (short trips). Use synthetic oil and go for a long trip on the highway more often to get the engine good and hot. Every week or two if you can.

Automatic transmission? Yes it's due. But do not let these guys touch it under any circumstance. Go to dedicated transmission shop and ask for a pan drain and filter service.
