My dad bought a 2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV when it was new. It now has 22,000 miles on the odometer and already needs a rebuilt trans (im not dumb, they actually call it that). According to the mechanic it is missing a washer and the car recently threw a warning for the trans. In addition it has a battery recall and the battery needs to be replaced soon. I do not trust it anymore and have decided it needs a replacement. he needs a reliable and somewhat cheap EV with a range of around 300 miles. Willing to do a conversion for him.
Unfortunately, 300 mile range, EV, reliable, and in an affordable package does not exist yet. And all these EVs coming out - still too new to know how they will hold up.
That being said, I feel the Nissan Leaf (and they’ve been building EVs for a while, albeit on 2nd generation now) would be your best bet but it won’t have 300 mile range. Or just go with a hybrid and get a Toyota Prius or one of these other Toyota hybrids (Camry, RAV4, etc) - personally, I would do that if it absolutely needs to be an electrified vehicle. Just don’t keep it beyond 200,000 miles.
Also, I would lease, not buy, any EVs (still new to know long term reliability/durability): best to keep them under warranty otherwise could be stuck with expensive repairs down the line.
You'll get more reliability, usability, and greater range out of a 60-year-old Rambler American than any electric car currently on the market.

Both the gorgeous photos showed up for me..
If you don't want to get a regular car (one that runs on gasoline only) then go with a Prius or a Prius Prime if you want to have something with a larger hybrid battery and option to plug in and charge and also electric only mode; Toyota has been making the Prius for a long time now so they know how to make it well.
