Engine knocking at cold temperatures.

Hi Scotty/forum users. I'm having an issue with my Honda Fit (EU model), 2006 1.3l IDSI (double spark plug), manual with 85 000 miles.

When I drive in cold/winter conditions the engine is knocking when not warmed to operating temperature and under load. If I accelerate fast with cold engine it knocks. When the engine warms up everything runs smooth and the knocking stops. Been to some mechanics and no-one found the problem. Engine also burns a little oil.

The knocking is not a problem on hot summer days.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello,

I would suggest changing the oil and filter first,

Make sure it's the correct specification oil for the temperature in the climate  your live in,

Other than that it could be, piston slap, camshaft bearings, small ends, big ends,

 pinking or pri ignition.

Hope this Helps.

All the Best.
