So, I put 2k into this Honda CR-V 2004 I just bought to get it into top shape. The mechanic I went to has been in business for a long time and are good honest people. He says I shouldn’t be concerned about the 1 misfire that’s popping up on my Midgrade autel reader and his 4 thousand dollar reader because the engine sounds and feels like it’s running very smooth. So I’m not sure exactly I was alarmed to read online that if there’s a misfire it could potentially become catastrophic. What should I do about this? Not sure if this guy was just busy and wanted to shoe me along or if this is something I need to get checked out right away. I’ve been driving it around, and I’m taking a 1300 mile trip next weekend. Thanks so much.
How many miles? Is it the same cylinder each time?
Might want to pull the spark plugs and compare their burn.
Interesting idea. It has 140k miles on it. Assuming it’s the same cylinder each time but my more basic diag won’t show me which exact cylinder. Don’t know when or if they’ve been replaced from the top of my head.
Maybe just switch them out at that point.
See if that model still has a cap and rotor. Another thing worth replacing at that mileage.
