Yo! Scotty;

   Great channel. I have a 2022 Ford maverick 2.0 4 automatic .Removing the splash shield to change the oil is a pain,do I really need to keep it on. Also I put a gizmo behind the OBD to stop the stop - start crap,good idea?.

Thanks Richie;

The splash shield is mainly meant for increased aerodynamics. You run the risk of inundating your car's engine if you encounter a badly drained portion of the road, as well. You could probably take it off, but you may notice slightly decreased MPG. The mechanical engineers put them there for a reason. With modern engineering standards, every pound counts as far as being as efficient as possible. If those splash shields were useless, they wouldn't be designing them into cars. Personally, I would leave it on. You only change the oil every 6 months or so. It's really not that big of a deal.
