Does the replacement of the engine timing belt also include water pump and pulleys?
Regarding Scotty Kilmer's YouTube video: How to tell if your Car needs a new timing belt, the only thing replaced in the video was the engine timing belt and not the pulleys or pump.
Sincerely, Mark
If the water pump is run by the timing belt, might as well change it out, IMHO. It takes so much time and effort just to take apart stuff to get to the timing belt, that it is often cost effective to change the water pump and the pulleys while you are at it.
If the water pump is not connected to the timing system at all, and it is easy to change, it’s probably not necessary to change it out.
Ok, that's interesting. I've watched Scotty's video and that is all he seems to have done. I've contacted two separate mechanics who have insisted that the other parts must be replaced as well.
P.S. my car is the exact car that is in Scotty's video.
How to tell if your Car needs a new timing belt,
did you check in the owner's manual?
Yes sir. Recommends inspection at 30k and replacement at 60k. I'm currently at 107k without inspection or replacement.
ok I get it now. You were quoting Scotty's video title. It helps to put quotation marks around it to remove ambiguity.
Ok, will do.
