So I have a 2000 Saturn SL1 with 54k miles automatic transmission, basically new condition. I was having an occasional issue with the car cranking for several seconds before finally starting. I heard from someone else who owns this same model and they said to turn the key to the Run position for a couple seconds before starting to give the fuel pump time to get the right compression. This worked for me every time. But now I noticed that the issue returns if I've been running the AC, and the Run trick doesn't work. I've had the battery, starter and alternator tested and those tested fine. What the hell is going on.
try the no start topic in our FAQ, but it sounds like a failing fuel pump.
Get the fuel system pressure tested, and change out the fuel filter if its possible.
But even then Id agree with the Mountain Man above and say it's likely that the fuel pump is starting to fail.
Joe got it exactly right. New fuel pump in your future.
