My 2006 Honda cr-v
I went to check my exhaust for oil residue with a white rag, it has 185,000km
-and it was almost 100% clean of everything, only having the tiniest trace of black soot; it had a nice layer of patina rust in there but nothing bad.
Is it normal to not have residue?
I change oil every 6 months
and use top tier gas

Yes. That's what you want.
A sooty tailpipe would indicate a poorly running engine.
