Hey Scotty, I have a 2000 toyota camry with 233,000 miles on it and my gas gauge is having issues. Sometimes the gas gauge will over either say I have way more gas or way less gas than I actually do. Often it will go back to normal after a while or if I go over an aggressive bump it will fix it but this time it won’t go down from 3/4. I only filled my car to 1/2 a tank and it just magically rose up to 3/4. Know what the problem is and how it can be fixed?
Your 23-year-old fuel level sending unit is probably wearing out, or you have a wiring problem.
If you know about how many miles you getting a full tank every time you fill up reset your trip and if you really keep on top of it you can hopefully keep from running out of gas
Or keep Jerry can in the trunk
It may not actually be safe but I always have a Jerry can
