Exhaust surface rust

Hello Scotty and moderators,

I have 2018 Camry XSE 4cyl

I just got my magnaflow catback exhaust from the mail last week and I'm planning to install it later this week, I saw one video on youtube that after the winter it gets a lot of surface rust, Does the surface rust harmful underneath the car? what should I do to prevent that surface rust? (and thoughts on magnaflow company having those kind of issue) thanks you

Surface rust is just that only on the surface don't worry about that all metal rust on the surface

Surface rust is not a problem structurally, it just doesn't look very good.

I'm not a Magnaflow fan for a couple of reasons:

1. Price - For what you get, I think they overcharge drastically.

2. Sound - I like my exhausts to be "loud and proud". MagnaFlow is very subdued.

3. Quality - Even at their price point, they use 409 stainless. Borla and Corsa use T-304, which is a much better material and does not rust at all.

But as to your question, don't worry. Surface rust is common and no big deal.

Thank you Scotty and @Mod_Man,

Yea, Unfortunately, Only magnaflow exhaust is currently available for my car. Some are discontinued and some are out of stock due to material shortage.
