Hello 👋Â
So I have a 2011 Ford F-150 ecoboost 3.5L with 174,000 miles on it. Lately I have noticed the truck losing power. So I replaced the spark plugs, air filter, and the high pressure fuel pump and always do my oil change every 3-4,000 miles. Since I have changed those parts the truck is running better but I am wondering what else I would need to replace so I can keep my truck running strong? Thank you in advance for your helpÂ
What else does the owner's manual say?Â
Have you been servicing the transmission ? Axle oil?

Clean the throttle body every 50k? Fuel filter?
Wouldn't hurt to run a fuel injector cleaner.
There's only so much you can do. An engine will get tired and worn out after 174k. Especially Ecoboosts.
Yeah I did the transmission maybe 15k miles ago
The Axel oil I have not done or thought of
And I’ll look into cleaning the throttle body right away
Thank you for your recommendations
My first time owning a truck and never got into cars until I got the Ford
Have you had the valves walnut blasted yet? Or do you already have a oil catch can installed? That 1st generation 3.5 eco is gasoline direct injected. The valves don’t get washed off like they do in a port injected motor so carbon builds up on them over time and it can lead to power loss and other problems.Â
Best maintenance for 3.5 ecoboosts:
1. 3k mi oil change even using synthetic. And especially on the 1st gen ecos.Â
2. Install a oil catch can right away.Â
3. sparks and coils have to be done every 60k mi for that motor to really be happy.Â
I also would use a higher octane fuel personally although I know plenty of people who use 87 or 89 and seem to do ok.
you could also look up motorreviewer.com and select Ford, It will tell you everything you could know about the 3.5 Ecoboost.Â
I didn’t even know about blasting the valves
But will look into it now
I read about catch cans but never really considered it but I will try everything to keep the truck happy and performing well
Thank you sir for your help
