I have a 2011 Ford F-150 Lariat 4x4 with a eco boost twin turbo v6. I recently switched it to 4wd and for some reason the 4wd service light comes on but the 4wd still works fine. But when I turn the wheels in 2wd it makes a clunk. The truck has 118,980 miles. what could be causing this?
Yeah those Ford four-wheel drives the later model ones like that two time the clock cuz they age I even had one that had 150 miles and it's clunked when I turned it as long as it works okay I'd live with it but do have a good mechanic check it out on his rack to see if there's anything that's physically worn that you can see bearings are actually wobbling and you need to replace them
I forgot to mention, my uncle bought this truck in february of this year. now it seems to be turning into a money pit at only 10 years old, i didn't know much about this year of the f-150. They just don't make them like they used to.
Mine does the same thing 2012 3.5l ecoboost. Have your IWE checked and vacuum lines. Ford made all 4x4 systems vacuum based and tend to be the culprit here now then anything else
Hope this helps
